Therapy is important for a multitude of reasons. It can be an effective, helpful way to gather tools and resources during difficult times or change in our lives. Therapy should prepare us to be able to deal with bad situations in a healthy way outside of office walls. It also is a non-judgmental space where we can be ourselves and grow into healthier patterns of living. However, therapy is not a space where the counselor dictates what the client should do. It’s a space for the counselor and client to come together to navigate the client’s situation. Through my own therapy journey, I have gained confidence and self-assuredness that I never dreamed I would have. I chose to become a counselor to help others find that strength in themselves and realize that they are worthy of good things, even when they don’t see it.
I am a recent graduate from Eastern Kentucky University where I studied Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I am very passionate about working with each client to best help them and meet them where they are. In my sessions, I promise that I will do my best to make you feel welcome, comfortable, and supported. With me, there are no stupid questions to ask. This is about your mental health! I want you to feel safe to advocate for yourself, set boundaries, and direct sessions to be the most beneficial for you.
Any and all marginalized identities are welcome with me. I am always ready and willing to learn what works best for each client. That includes all people with different backgrounds, beliefs, abilities, viewpoints, and experiences from my own.
