Jessica Jaramillo

 LCSW

Southland Child, Adult, and Family Counseling began in 2016. It was never a dream of mine to be a small business owner, but it was always a dream of mine to share hope and knowledge with others. People are resilient and positive change happens all of the time. We have all endured more than we ever anticipated, as the world has faced a global pandemic in 2020 and beyond. Sometimes working through current challenges, or facing and processing past trauma, or building and improving relationships would be a benefit to you. I would love to be on that journey with you. I provide counseling services to children, adolescents, adults, and families, who are facing some of these types of challenges in life.

My name is Jessica Jaramillo and I’ve been a social worker since 2000. I graduated from the University of Kentucky with a Bachelor of Arts in Social Work and then I received my Masters of Social Work at Spalding University. I became an independently licensed clinician in 2009, providing mental and behavioral health treatment to children, adolescents, and adults.

My areas of interest and experience are varied. I began all of my work with children and their families, collaborating with many community partners along the way. I worked in the homes of families for twelve years, which gave me a perspective and passion to always remember the client is the expert on themselves and that it is an honor to be allowed and invited to join a family or individual where they are.

I have worked in preserving and reunifying children with their families, community mental health, pediatrics at the University of Kentucky, supervisor and trainer for a grant-supported project to provide services to deaf and hard of hearing children, and private practice. We are all more than the certifications and trainings that make us better at our professions, but here are the areas of specialty and/or experience I provide in therapy:

Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

Supporting Parents of Anxious Childhood Emotions (SPACE)

Sandtray Therapy

Social Thinking

Exposure Response Prevention

Accelerated Resolution Therapy

Parent-Child Interaction Therapy

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

Trauma Play Therapy

Everyday Parenting and Family Check Up-Coach, Supervisor, and Trainer

So what do all of these trainings and certifications mean? It means that I care deeply and take great responsibility to provide the best evidence-based and current treatment to children and adults. Anxiety and depressive disorders, attention-related disorders like ADHD, oppositional defiant disorder, OCD, relationship issues, school problems, eating disorders, social interaction difficulties, and trauma are areas of focus in my practice.
